Ramzi Taha (Qatar University, Qatar)

Dr RamziDr. Ramzi Taha completed his B.Sc., M.Eng., and Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University.  He graduated with the doctoral degree in December 1989.  He worked over seven years in various academic institutions in the USA before joining the Department of Civil Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University in June 1997.  He was promoted to the Associate Professor’s rank in 1999 and he became a Professor in 2005.  From 2005-2009, Dr. Taha served as the Head of the Department.  In 2006, the Civil Engineering Program received substantial equivalency accreditation from the USA Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).  In 2009, the Architectural Engineering Program was fully accredited by ABET.  Dr. Taha served as a member of three audit panels for colleges in Oman, and in 2010 he served as a member of an audit panel for the University of Bahrain. 

Dr. Taha’s teaching and research interests include engineering education, sustainable use of construction and recycled materials in highway and building construction, and transportation infrastructure, He has completed more than 25 research projects and has more than 100 publications to his credit.  Dr. Taha served on many international, university, college and departmental committees.  He was also a reviewer for many scientific publications.  From April 2010 until January 2012, Dr. Taha served as the Dean of Postgraduate Studies at Sultan Qaboos University.  In February 2012 he joined the College of Engineering at Qatar University, and in April 2012 he was appointed as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the college.  As of September 2013, he is serving as the Head of the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering at Qatar University.
